todays date: 11-20-04 name: dave freimuth age: 33 location: appleton, wisconsin years riding: 16 sponsors: macneil, etnies, ugp, snafu, 661, baco interests: bikes, wife, photography, travel. education: dropped out of my 3rd year of college to concentrate on riding. no intention of going back whatsoever. random questions how did you get involved in bike riding & at what age? when i was 15 a friend of mine got me to go to the bmx track with him. i was slightly interested until i saw a guy doing curb endos and some balance tricks in the parking lot. i was hooked ever since. how often do you ride? when i'm home, sometimes everyday, sometimes once a week. depends on my motivation. i definitely ride more when kachinsky's healthy. he's probably the most motivating factor in my riding right now. who where the last three people your rode with? andy kent, mike hautenen, and brandon hoerres at area 51. what kind of music do you enjoy? a little bit of everything. classic rock is probably my favorite. if you work, what do you do? well riding is my profession, but i wouldn't call it work. i guess in the future i'd hope to do something with photography or possibly get a job in the bike industry. favorite things to ride(favorite skatepark, city with street, rails, transition, banks etc. ect.): area 51 is my favorite right now. but the chengas, mission, and section 8 have always been on the top of my list. favorite cities would be madison and minneapolis for sure. nobody outside the midwest really seems to know how good those cities really are. and i like it that way. any other things you like to do besides bmx? taking pictures for sure, and working on the house a bit. drink/smoke? drink/no smoke where do you see yourself in 20 years? retired, living on a lake somewhere in florida with my wife patie and our three kids. two boys and a girl. we'll see how that all turns out. what is midwestbmx.net to you, if anything? it's about the only thing that keeps me in the know of what's going on in the midwest bmx-wise these days. god knows the magazines sure don't help much. who has inpired you on a bike? countless riders. some of the biggest influences... degroot, osato, miron, joe and luc-e, ruben, moliterno, schmidt, taj, so many more than that. more recently... kachinsky, porter, martinez, heaton and whitton. what do you like to eat? mexican. i can eat taco johns 7 days a week if i have to. and love it. what are some tricks that you like to do? lot's of grinds, 540 taps, nosepicks, and most of all, tailwhips. what do you think your riding style is like? i couldn't really say. you'd have to ask someone else to get a good answer to that one. ardelean says i'm smooth, heaton says i'm stiff, and porter says i pedal too much. krt schmidt used to say i looked "lazy", i said "oh, you mean effortless?", he said "no, lazy". your car? 1995 blue astro van. i'll be a van owner my whole life. i don't even know what i'd do without one, and i don't even have kids yet. do you enjoy going to contests? i always love contests. i never think of contests as "oh, i have to qualify" or "oh, i have to make money". i just look at it as an opportunity to ride with the best guys in the world and to get psyched to try some shit i've never done before. nothing gets me pumped to send myself like the finals of a big contest like backyards or metro jams. how many hours do you spend on a computer? when i'm home, probably one or two a day. favorite bike video & single video section? if i had to pick one, i'd say etnies "forward" and ruben's part in it. there's too many amazing videos to just say one though. headfirst, baco 6, style cats, criminal mischief, road fools 1, the new T1 video, square one, baco 9, homeless 3, roger's garage, wheelies. i've probably watched each one of those videos 100 times. shout outs? i'd really like to thank everyone that came out for the baco jam this year. and the sponsors that support it. without them we'd be lost. and i promise next year will be everything that i promised this year would be!!! hehehe.
