This years Baco Jam, which was located deep in the wilderness of good old Wisconsin at Jellystone Camp Grounds, was amazing! There was a good scene there, basically a big camp ground with cabins surrounding a big water park and skate park. The skate park there is legit. It has pre fab ramps, which some people dislike, however these ramps actually helped during the contest because it was drizzling rain at some points and it did not become slick. Most ramps that you would find at your regular skate park instantly turn slick when it rains, but these really didnt. The bowl there made up for any dislikes of the street course however. The architecture of it was real unique, and super fun.

The first night was the all night jam; Jesse Hapka and I made the two and half or so drive from Mil-town, to arrive at a decently packed skate park. There was a good turn out for it being pretty far into the middle of No-Wheresville. We ended up riding for a while then proceeded to hang out in front the cabin with everybody and get loose. The sleeping arrangements where dialed as possibly could be. $25 bucks got a bed for 2 nights, entrance in the competition, and a damn good time. The place where we stayed had these super nice cabin deals that seven people could sleep in per rental, which had an up and downstairs and included a fridge and oven. Turns up I ended up with a pretty interesting crew in my house. Dirty dirty Dan, Lenny Loose fingers, Mr. Josh Nenzda, and another bro Cody from Minnesota. They reserved about 10 of these houses for bike riders and they where all next to each other. Just from that you know it was good.

The next day was the Pro Contest. Everyone was looking pretty ratty at this point. Im pretty sure most people got little to no sleep the night before. It didnt matter though, this was forgotten fast when we hit the hot tubs and huge waterslides. The contest didnt start until later in the afternoon. It was a really nice day with the exception of some rain, but it held off just enough to finish the comp. The contest was really fun, really laid back, jam style format like always at the Baco contests. I think there where about 6 or 7 groups of 5 guys riding pro. Plenty of them where riding really well. Brian Kachinsky rode good, even worked some flairity into his run. Adam Baker made a showing, first time I have seen him ride in person and hes really good. Jonah Lindberg did everything you dont think of, first try. John Heaton. Thats all I have to say. You know he rode the hell out of anything in site. Oh and of course Dave Osato shredded shit, huge tail whip gap. (see the video) Kevin Porter did a bunch of cool lookin shit like usual, he even fired out a 720 to fakie on the quarter. To say the least it was amazing. The Albes kids who showed up all shredded. Matt Sparks did a huge flair transfer on the hip. Flip was there also. Lets just say that hes better than most and is old enough to be Reed Starks father. Now thats cool. He partied on Saturday in a full one-piece pajama suite which was funny as hell. Back to the contest shizz.

Later after the pro comp, there was a 45 minutes Bowl Jam for some cash flow. It was pretty entertaining to watch this go down. Josh Nenzda hands down owns this bowl. This guy is serious on a bike; he has a lot of bike control that you just have to see for yourself. He did some of the craziest shit of the weekend- 180 up and over the vert wall, and 3 tapped it into the small tranny on the other side. It was crazy.. John Heaton did some insane shit as well. On the same part of the bowl, he rode across the vert wall and barspinned and tailwhipped into the landing of the small jump in the bowl. It was intense.

After the Bowl Jam, everyone just hung out. The Albes crew was in affect this night and they sure helped the overall fun. They have this awesome bus that all of them pack into and travel around riding bikes which is pretty sweet. I met Flip who turned out to be more than awesome. He partied all night with his full one-piece pajama suite on. He didnt give a fuck just partied on. Andy Kent had his pro grilling apron on with pockets for everything. He cooks a mean hamburger (or lean?). I heard him through out the night, preaching his philosophy on child support and other nonsense. Catfish even happen to make it out there, which he never fails to amaze me with some of his latest shit; have it be a magic trick to some cool ass trick on his bike. He just happened to be going on Road Fools the next day. What a superstar. At some point Nenzda and Mike Hautenen thought it was a good idea to go on the roof of the cabin. And let me tell you it was! People where already up there shooting fireworks at the partygoers below. It was mad fun. We basically just had a good time all night. We where even partying with the security guard, Ive seen him cram like 8 people onto one golf cart and give a ride around the campground. I had a real good time. What can I say, Baco Jams always are! If you didnt make it out there this time, obviously you have to come next year. Thanks to Dave Friemuth and Chad DeGroot for a good dam time for sure.

mad props to lilly!
